China the Cat

I had a small cat
A Siamese one at that
“China” was his given name
But none called him that”

Puss-Puss” my father continually claimed
“Sausage” my brother firmly exclaimed
“China” would I timidly try
No, “John-Henry” my mother acclaimed

Kitchen rubbish was his attraction
And to arrest this infraction
“China” had to be stopped
Double magnets prevented further action

Forestalling now his preferred play
I suddenly discovered that day
“China” having had his “MEOW”
Cursing in Siamese isn’t okay
