It is that time of the year
To take stock of past months.
Where has the time gone?
Through thick and thin
You have been there, Lord.
Your mercy has been my comfort.
Time past is never to be relived.
The present beckons us with open arms.
What meaning does this season have?
A time for family reunions?
Or for temporary merriment?
Seeking beyond this worldly façade
Into the spiritual, trying to apprehend
The true meaning of Jesus Christ’s advent.
We desire to make New Year’s resolutions,
A yearning for a fresh start.
Why are we never satisfied?
What is this emptiness?
It’s a God shaped vacuum
Waiting to be filled by Him
And to be overcome by His presence.
Will this be your New Year resolution?
